The Being Human in Stem (HSTEM) Initiative aims to foster a more inclusive, supportive STEM community by helping students, faculty, and staff collaboratively develop a framework to understand and navigate diverse identities in the classroom, lab, and beyond.
Offered at Amherst, Davidson, Mt. Holyoke, Pomona, Skidmore and Williams Colleges, Soka University of America, DePauw, Hamline and Yale Universities, and the Universities of Rhode Island and Utah, this project-based course model can be adapted to empower students to investigate issues of racism and equity in STEM through combining academic inquiry with lasting community engagement on any campus.
